Structural design and stress analysis

North Aircraft uses state-of-the-art design and stress analysis tools.

Our engineering team has 100+ years combined experience in aircraft design, specializing in the design and analysis of composite structures.

Our main design tools include:

  • CATIA V5
  • FEMAP 

In addition our team has experience with

  • PATRAN/NASTRAN

System design

Our engineering team designs aircraft systems, finding the optimal result given the operational and regulatory requirements. We research and select the most cost and weight-effective solutions based on our customer needs.

Manufacturing engineering

Our manufacturing engineers work closely with our design team to ensure that manufacturability is an integral part of the design.

We create optimized solutions tailored to our specific customers’ needs. We specialize in:

  • prototyping
  • low rate initial production
  • industrializing and transitioning to series production
  • tooling, fixture and mold design

Materials and processes

Based on the product requirements, North Aircraft will select and tailor the appropriate material and process for the specific application. 

This process may involve these elements:

  • material selection
  • material qualification
  • process development and optimization
  • independent verification of material properties

Full scale load testing at NAI

Test engineering

North Aircraft can perform both static and fatigue load testing. We developed in-house equipment to perform full-scale load testing of components and structures, including:

  • targeted load application
  • static load
  • fatigue load
  • HBK MGCPlus data acquisition (250 channels)
  • MOOG smart test controller and actuation systems

Project management

We manage projects from initial design through to the production phase. We provide our customers with regular progress reporting and quantitative metrics.

We are accustomed to various project management methods, including the gated project approach used in the aerospace industry.
